Beth Fulghum Honored as Teacher of the Year
Lanier County Schools began the 2011-2012 school
year with a Teacher and Staff Celebration
Luncheon. Mr. Humphrey, Superintendent, welcomed
all staff members at the annual employee
appreciation luncheon.
A highlight of the luncheon was the recognition
of the 2011-2012 system Teacher of the Year.
Beth Fulghum,
Lanier County Primary School Kindergarten
teacher, was awarded Lanier County Teacher of
the Year. Mrs. Fulghum was selected from the
four school-level teachers of the year by an
outside panel of judges. She will now represent
Lanier County as a candidate for Georgia’s
Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Fulghum, Kindergarten teacher at Lanier
County Primary School, knows that the most
rewarding part of her job is watching her
students grow. She compares her students to
small seeds planted in the warm spring sunshine.
As they grow and mature, they begin to evolve
into a beautiful towering plant, each one
special in his/her own special way. Beth is
married to Joel Fulghum, and they have three
children: Kyle, Sharrod, and Gracie Fulghum.
Other school-level Teachers of the Year were
recognized at the luncheon:
Angie
Fender, special education teacher, for the
elementary school; Lynn Vickers, 7th
grade math teacher, for the middle school; and
Deidre Chadwick, science teacher for the high school.
Each Teacher of the Year recipient received a
gift basket of donated items from local area
businesses.
Four additional teachers were awarded the
Educational Pedagogy award for the 2010-2011
school year for their outstanding teaching
abilities. They include:
Valerie
Kline, 2nd grade teacher, at the
primary school,
Kayla Faircloth, 3rd grade teacher, at the elementary
school,
Wayne Sirmans, 6th grade language
arts teacher, at the middle school, and
Margo Montgomery, math teacher, at the high school. Other faculty
members were recognized for years of service and
perfect attendance.
